The legislative committee informs and heightens awareness of members regarding the impact of legislation and political activity on their roles. This committee identifies and supports laws, programs, and practices of mental health counseling, and shall be responsible for advocating for and implementing the NEFMHCA legislative platform.
The legislative Chair will:
· Be responsible for researching relevant articles, news announcements, policy updates etc… that pertain to legislative matters that impact the mental health counseling profession by
o Providing Board with at least one article, news announcement, or policy update a month via email. The Board will then distribute this information to members and associates.
o Ensure that there is effective communication amongst members in the committee by maintaining communication with members at minimum once a month via email.
o Email committee goals to each new committee member and ensure active committee members are aware of goals.
· Be responsible for organizing and effectively communicating with members of committee.
· Attending Board meetings regularly
o Must not miss more than 3 consecutive Board Meetings
Goals for Legislative Committee:
Legislative Chair will be responsible for ensuring that primary Committee Goal (listed above) is met which is as follows:
o Providing Board with at least one legislative article, news announcement, or policy update relevant to mental health counseling profession a month via email. The Board will then distribute this information to members and associates.
